Resource status
China's magnesite is rich in resources and excellent in texture. It is one of the dominant minerals and plays an important role in the world. As of 1996, there were 27 magnesite mines in the country, with reserves of 3.01 billion tons of magnesite, of which A+B+C reserves were 1.312 billion tons, accounting for 43.72% of the total reserves. The resource potential of magnesite in China is very large. It is predicted that there are still 8 billion tons of magnesite resources. According to the US Mining Bureau's "Mineral Commodity Summaries, 1996", the world's magnesite reserves are 2.5 billion tons, the reserve base is 3.4 billion tons, and the resources are about 12 billion tons. Resource characteristics
1. High concentration of reserves, large and medium-sized deposits
As mentioned above, China's magnesite reserves are mainly concentrated in Liaoning and Shandong provinces, with reserves accounting for 95.16% of the country's total reserves. Among the 27 magnesite producing areas in the country, there are 11 large-scale (reserves >50 million tons), with reserves accounting for 95.11% of the country's total reserves, and medium-sized (reserves of 0.1 billion to 50 million tons) of 5 production areas. 4.05% of total reserves. 3. Mainly carbonate rock deposits
There are 21 magnesite deposits in the country, and 21 of them are magnesia carbonates. The deposits are large-scale, high-quality and have great industrial value. Their reserves are 2.988 billion tons, accounting for total reserves. 95.99% of reserves. It belongs to the magnesite ore of the hydrothermal liquefaction and weathering leaching type in the ultrabasic rock. The retained reserves are only 0.01 billion tons, accounting for 0.03% of the total national reserves. The Quaternary Lake-phase water magnesite has a reserve of 99 million tons, accounting for 3.18% of the country's total reserves. There are also three magnesite deposits that are symbiotic with iron ore and talc, with reserves of 25 million tons, accounting for 0.8% of the country's total reserves.
4. High degree of exploration and high utilization
Among the 27 magnesite deposits in the country, there are 12 exploration levels, with reserves of 260,700 tons, accounting for 86.8% of the total reserves of the country; 10 levels of detailed investigation, with reserves of 213 million tons, accounting for the national total. It holds 7.1% of reserves; it is 5 in the census stage, with reserves of O.18 billion tons, accounting for 0.6% of the country's total reserves. Among the 27 magnesite deposits, 18 have been developed and utilized, occupying 2.528 billion tons of reserves, accounting for 84.2% of the country's total reserves.
